Law degree from Manchester University, postgraduate studies in France and Italy. Barrister, UK civil servant 1979-83; European Court of Justice 1983-1999, UN Tribunal for Rwanda 1999-2003, European Court of Auditors 2003-2014 (retd.). Member of the Committee since 2015, Chairman since 2019. ECB accredited cricket umpire.

Vice-Chairman - Bob Hull

BA History; BT; MBA Manchester; Commission trade 1974-1979; UK civil servant; Commission, Internal Market, Environment; Director EESC 1998-2006; MA Theatre Performance RADA; Newcastle Univ Council 2006-2015; Mayor Hexham 2019-2021. AIACE committee 2007 to date.

Treasurer - John Wiggins

CMG. Degree in classics and history from Oxford University, subsequently Masters in Economics from Harvard Univ. UK civil servant 1961-92. UK Member of the European Court of Auditors 1993-2001. Currently works as consultant on public financial management.

Secretary + Web/email/Zoom - Alan Huyton

European Commission 1990-2016, mostly in HR with the environment/climate DG. Now active with U3A and for AIACE, convenor of the Scotland Region etc. Married, 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 1 lockdown cat. Vegan. Interests - birds, boardgames, books.

Membership team - Jane Cornelius

Bilingual secretarial training leading to administrative positions in the UK and abroad, ranging from university booksellers to Lloyd's Brokers (London), the oil industry (Brussels and Houston), UN/non-profit organisations in Tangier, Paris, Geneva and Washington, D.C., prior to joining the European Medicines Agency from 1996 until retirement in 2013. Now, keen member U3A language and literature groups and Red Cross retail volunteer.

Member of AIACE-UK Committee, AIACE Bureau, Commission Group for Salaries and Pensions. Married, 2 daughters.

JSIS Ambassador / Expert - Michael Hocken

Modern Languages (Oxford), French Lit. & Lang. (Sorbonne), Federal Politics (Stiftung Maximileaneum, Munich); SCIC trainee & staff interpreter; TEPSA: preparation of incoming Presidency teams; Commission Translator; Political Secretary ECSF/Chair Brussels Staff Committee; Head of Personnel & Admin Justice & Home Affairs Task Force/DG; invalided out in 2003. Post retirement activities: JP, AIACE UK/INT, Lay Adviser RCPath, trustee of community woodland, dry stone walling.

Now: volunteer in a charity shop, trustee of two charities, vaccination care volunteer. AIACE committee since 2018 and member of Vox editorial committee.

Diploma in Legal Studies at UCL London and Certificate of Interior Design at KLC London. European Medicines Agency from 2002 to 2020: eight years as administrative assistant in Pharmacovigilance then after as Personnel Officer in Human Resources. Prior experiences in Travel Agency and Import Export and Legal Firm in Italy. Volunteer at the charity Hospitality Action and Westminster boating base in London. Keen and passionate hikers, latest achievement hiking Vulcano in the island in Sicily Italy. AIACE UK Committee and Membership team since 2022.

Committee member, Pensions Ambassador - Pernille Andersen

European Court of Auditors (1981-1999), European Commission (1999-2015), EEAS (2015-2021). A number of different positions held with 13 years spent in PMO’s Pension Unit and the last 6 years as Head of Administration in 2 Delegations (Moldova & Lesotho). Retired 1 September 2021. AIACE Committee member since 2022.
